When grocery shopping, I usually stop by the sushi counter to see what they got. This time I got a spicy tuna roll.

I get home and realize it is not avocado squeezed rather intimately with their raw tuna friends, but cucumber. I also realize that I should have read the ingredients before purchase, or looked more closely.

In any case, I happened to have an avocado and performed emergency sushi surgery. It was successful. Then I ate them all!

Don’t you just love it when that little blond kid in the Impressions de France film whispers, “patisserie” in awe to his friend? And you’re like, why is the friend picking the one with the stupid healthy fruit? Weirdo.

*My new favorite dessert from there. Brought it home, microwaved it for 10 seconds to get the bread soft and the chocolate chips to melt. Ma chere!

Awhile back two friends mentioned seeing a pulled beef sandwich on the menu at one of the quick service restaurants at Animal Kingdom.

I love trying new food, especially Disney food. With 4 theme parks and over 20 resorts with ever changing QSRs, there’s always something new.

I was also a little inspired by the 100 Disney Foods To Eat Before You Die Challenge another friend posted on his FB wall.

So here it is: Disney’s Animal Kingdom - Africa - Tamu Tamu -#9 Slow Roasted Pulled Beef (Pita) Sandwich, $8.99

It was all right. The beef was really tender, maybe not as flavorful as I’d like. The cucumber, tomato and mint tzatziki sauce was a good complement, but I felt it overpowered the slight spiciness of the beef. Chips were just all right.

And to those guys who were getting just drinks, couldn’t you go somewhere else?

My parents were in town for about a week and a half last month. It was nice to spend time with them and relax, but it was especially great to dine with them. My folks are foodies, and I love it. And here are just a few of my favorites.

1) Kouzzina by Cat Cora: Slow-cooked Lamb Shank served with Oven-baked Gigantes Beans and Lamb Jus

2) Manny’s Original Chophouse: 12oz Prime Rib (‘nuff said)

3) Citricos at the Grand Floridian: Warm Chocolate-Banana Torte with Vanilla IceCream and Handcrafted Belgium Couverture Chocolate Crown

4) Yellow Dog Eats: Mexican Mutt - “Southwestern chipotle wrap that holds wood smoked chicken or seasoned roast beef, fresh and sassy blackbean spread, shredded lettuce, local tomatoes, homemade chunky salsa, caramelized onions, cilantro sour cream, and a gourmet three cheese blend. Photo #1: If you look close enough, you can just make out part of an alligator in the center of the photo. If not, trust me, it’s there.

Photo #2: The sidewalk where I normally jog and the edge of woods/marsh/swamp whatever where I saw the gator (twice now). The gator is right between the two trees in the center.

Look at how close it is to the sidewalk! That’s like 10ft away! Look at the fence that is separating man and beast. Oh, wait…there is no fence. In the future, it will be me running in a zig zag trying to lose the gator after trying to get a better picture.

Told my friends and co-workers that Lost Girl was premiering tonight on SyFy. They asked if I was going to watch it, and said probably not, because I’ve already seen the first season and have other things to watch at that time.

But somehow I found myself automatically changing the channel at 10pm to SyFy.

Because that smile. Because that touch. Because that look. And I realized I cannot resist Zoie Palmer as Dr. Lauren.

I love taking pictures of Hogwarts from the queue of Dueling Dragons…um which is now called the Great Dragon Challenge or something.

The wait time for Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey was at 75 minutes at 7am that morning. The park opened at 6:30am. We didn’t wait for it, because I know wizards.

Tried Yachtsman’s Steakhouse at the Yacht Club for the first time. At work my co-workers and I looked up pictures of Beef Wellington. They were so excited about it, so I got it. It was really good and worth the wait, even though it really was “deconstructed”. I admit I was a little perplexed at what I was seeing and eating . It was also probably the most expensive meal I ever EVER ordered at $45.

While two of us ordered the Beef Wellington, another friend ordered the 16 oz ribeye and said it was good. And he’s a carnivore. I ate his sweet potato beignets.

We got Shrimp and Grits as an appetizer and that was really good. The shrimp were jumbo and had a spicy, Cajun flavor to it. The grits balanced out the taste.

We also ordered Truffle Mac n Cheese which was very rich. The Squash Spaghetti was pleasantly surprising. I would eaten more of it, if I had another stomach and a glass of wine to wash everything down.

Revolutionary Girl Utena Remastered Limited Edition!!!!

There has not been any other anime/show/movie/thing that I’ve been obsessed with as much as this. I love this. I have loved this since I first watched the movie years ago, then the series fansubs, then the DVD rips, and then the official DVDs… but this is golden.

Merry Christmas to myself and to my beautifully tragic characters and their delusions of eternity.

Cinderella’s Castle at the Magic Kingdom is all aglow. Took this picture while waiting for Holiday Wishes to start. Yay for perimeter fireworks and upside down smileys!

We also saw Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Parade (twice). That parade is so long, there needs to be a 20 min intermission. They need to put the Splash Mountain unit back in.

During the first parade, I was unfortunately stuck next to a family where the daughter was whining about her broken camera and couldn’t take any photos. She would snap a few, look at the results and complain.

After about 10 minutes of this, I just wanted to snatch the camera away from her, and shout, “I don’t even have a camera! My only memories of this parade will be you whining about your camera!!” But I didn’t, because I’m a good person.

Last Exile, I remember you from my college days. I even did a small presentation about the use of CGI for a media class.

But I’m not going to lie, I came for the awesome air battles and beautiful scenery (Sophia), but stayed for the yuri subtext.

Yes, that’s right. Tatiana Wisla, genius pilot, and Alister Agrew, her trusty navi were dating at the time, and now in Fam the Silver Wing, they are still together- married if my goggles are on tight enough.

Not going to watch this series yet, so no spoilers please. It’s just nice to see an older Tatiana and Alister. And wow, dat anime hair :)
